What Does Matthew 27:21 Mean?
Pilate puts the question once more, asking which of the two prisoners the people want freed. The crowd, now stirred by the leaders, answers with one voice: Barabbas.
The choice is made, and it falls upon the guilty man. The innocent is passed over for the criminal. Yet in this dark exchange a deeper truth glimmers: a guilty man walks free because Jesus takes the place of condemnation. What the crowd intends for harm sketches the very shape of redemption, where the sinless Savior stands in the sinner's stead.
