What Does Philippians 3:21 Mean?
Paul tells what the returning Savior will do. He will change our lowly body, transforming it to be fashioned like his own glorious body, by the same power by which he is able to subdue all things to himself.
Here is the hope toward which the whole chapter has been pressing. The frail, mortal body, subject to weakness and decay, will be remade in the likeness of Christ's glorious risen body. The power that accomplishes this is the very power by which Christ rules over everything; nothing can resist it. This promise crowns the believer's heavenward longing: not escape from the body but its glorious transformation. The same Christ we await has the strength to make us like himself. Paul ends on triumph, assuring the Philippians that the One who pressed through death to glory will bring his people, body and all, to share in that glory.
