What Does Romans 4:24 Mean?
Paul completes the thought from the previous verse. The crediting of righteousness is for us also. The same reckoning that met Abraham is held out to everyone who believes, drawing the reader directly into the story.
But now the object of faith is named with fresh clarity: we believe on the God who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead. Abraham trusted the God who gives life to the dead; we trust that same God, now revealed in the raising of Jesus. Faith has always fastened onto the God of resurrection, and in Christ that God has acted decisively. To believe in Him who raised Jesus is to stand exactly where Abraham stood, and to receive what Abraham received: righteousness credited by grace.
