The restored people will eat their fill, praise God for His wonders, and never again be put to shame.

What Does Joel 2:26 Mean?

The promise blossoms into worship. The people will eat in plenty and be satisfied, and the natural response will be praise: they will bless the name of the LORD their God who has dealt wondrously with them. God adds a tender pledge: my people shall never be ashamed. The famine and reproach of chapter one are answered with fullness and lasting honor.

Satisfaction here leads not to forgetfulness but to gratitude. God's aim in restoring His people is that they would know His goodness and praise Him for it; the full table becomes an altar of thanks. The promise that they shall never be ashamed speaks of a security that rests in God's faithfulness, not in the harvest. Those who trust in the Lord are not finally put to shame, for He vindicates His own. The wondrous dealing of God is meant to draw from His people a song that outlasts every season.
