What Does Obadiah 1:15 Mean?
The vision now widens from Edom to all the heathen. The day of the LORD, the appointed time when God sets matters right, is near for every nation. The measure Edom used will be measured back to her: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee.
This principle reaches beyond Edom to every reader. What we deal out returns upon our own head, for God's justice is exact and impartial. The verse sobers anyone tempted to harm others, and it assures the wronged that no cruelty is forgotten. It also turns our eyes toward the day when the Lord will finally reckon and reign.
