Context
Jesus quotes Isaiah 54:13, linking it to his promise and establishing his teaching as continuous with the prophetic tradition.
What Does John 6:45 Mean?
Jesus turns to Scripture to explain the Father's drawing. It is written: all will be taught of God. Not some, but all. The promise is universal and ancient. In quoting the prophets, Jesus roots his message in the deepest tradition of Israel, showing that this is not a new invention but the fulfillment of what God has always intended. To be taught of God is to receive knowledge not from human sources alone, but from the source of all truth.
The connection is direct: those taught by the Father come to Jesus. To be instructed in God's truth is to be led to Jesus. This is not two different paths, but one. You cannot truly learn of the Father without that learning pointing you toward Jesus. And everyone who has heard God's voice, who has felt the weight of truth calling to them, has felt the Father's teaching. When such teaching awakens in you, it naturally turns you toward Jesus, who is the embodiment of that truth.
Application
You have already been taught by God if you have seen truth, felt conscience, or experienced the weight of meaning. Jesus is saying that all such teaching flows toward him. What has the Father already taught you, and how might it be drawing you toward him?
