The Lord declares judgment that will make all the churches know He searches hearts, and that He repays each one according to their works.

What Does Revelation 2:23 Mean?

The judgment extends to those wholly given over to this corruption. By it, all the churches will recognize a solemn truth about Christ: He is the One who searches the inmost mind and heart. Nothing of motive or desire is hidden from Him. He will repay every person according to what they have done.

The Lord sees not only actions but the hidden springs from which they flow, the reins and the heart. This both warns and comforts: no secret sin escapes Him, and no hidden faithfulness is forgotten. He renders to each according to their works, a justice perfectly informed. To live before such a Lord is to live in the open, where what we truly are is fully known and rightly answered.
