What Does Revelation 22:4 Mean?
This is the height of the promise. Through Scripture, to see God's face was thought too great for mortal eyes; even Moses was shown only his back. Now the servants behold his face openly, and his name is set upon their foreheads as a sign that they are his own.
To see his face is to know and be known without distance or veil. The name on the forehead marks a people claimed, named, and kept by God himself. What prophets and kings longed for from afar is given here as daily nearness. The deepest hope of the human heart, to be fully seen by God and to look upon him in return, is at last fulfilled.
