What Does Revelation 22:5 Mean?
The vision closes its description of the city. Night, with all its fear and concealment, is banished. No lamp is lit and no sun rises, because the Lord God is himself the light by which his people live, and they are given to reign with him without end.
Light here is not a thing God makes but a gift he is. To dwell in unending day is to live where nothing is hidden and nothing is feared. That the servants shall reign forever lifts them from mere shelter to shared glory, an inheritance held in his presence. The God who said 'Let there be light' becomes at last the only light his people will ever need.
