What Does Zechariah 6:15 Mean?
The oracle closes with a wide horizon. Those who are far off, beyond the returned remnant, will come and help build the temple of the Lord, and when they do, the people will know that the Lord truly sent His messenger. The promise is then tied to a condition: it comes to pass as they diligently obey His voice.
The gathering of distant peoples to build God's house reaches toward a day when those once far away are drawn near to share in His dwelling, a hope Christians see opened wide in Christ, in whom the distant are brought home. Yet the closing word is a tender summons. God's great purposes invite our glad obedience; the blessing offered from heaven is met and embraced by hearts that listen and follow.
