Moroni 1
People in this chapter
Moroni thought he was finished. He had closed his father's record, then abridged the twenty-four plates of the Jaredites, and he had supposed not to have written more (v. 1). Yet he is still alive, and so he picks up the plates again.

Moroni 1:1-3I Will Not Deny the Christ
1Now I, Moroni, after having made an end of abridging the account of the people of Jared, I had supposed not to have written more, but I have not as yet perished; and I make not myself known to the Lamanites lest they should destroy me. 2For behold, their wars are exceedingly fierce among themselves; and because of their hatred they put to death every Nephite that will not deny the Christ. 3And I, Moroni, will not deny the Christ; wherefore, I wander whithersoever I can for the safety of mine own life.
Moroni thought he had finished writing, but he is still alive. He hides from the Lamanites and wanders from place to place to stay safe.
The Lamanites killed every Nephite who would not deny Christ. A Nephite could save his life by denying Him.
Moroni 1:4Of Worth unto My Brethren, the Lamanites
4Wherefore, I write a few more things, contrary to that which I had supposed; for I had supposed not to have written any more; but I write a few more things, that perhaps they may be of worth unto my brethren, the Lamanites, in some future day, according to the will of the Lord.
Moroni writes a few more things for the Lamanites of the future. He calls the people hunting him my brethren.
